The Central African Republic (C.A.R)
is one of the finest game countries in Africa, where a hunting safari has always
been, and is still today, a hard hunting experience of the purest distillation. This was created
by the very nature of the main huntable species, the terrain, the high principles of the professional
hunters and phenomenal tracking capabilities of the african hunters.
This is the country of the Central African Giant or Lord Derby´s Eland. A hunter seeking a Giant Eland,
while experiencing the purity of a true hunt in Africa; wants to witness the mystical quality of the tracking
teams, and immerse himself in a depth of emotion unavailable elsewhere in Africa, must hunt the Central African
Republic.
The country consists of an area of 623 000 square kilometers with a population of only 2.5 million people,
of which the majority live in the capital, Bangui, and in the few suburban
centres.
The country and terrain varies enormously, from savannah in the centre and north, to rain forest
in the south-west, and savannah interspersed with thick forest in the south-east.
This variation in terrain creates ideal habitats for a wide and varied game population.
The Central African Republic is famous for its outstanding hunting and quality of the trophies available.
The hunting season in the savannah is planned for the dry months, which are December through to mid-May.
Rain can sometimes occur towards the end of the dry season, especially in April and May, but with no
disturbing effects on hunting. the best period to hunt Lord Derby's Giant Eland is from January to
end-April.
